John Eliot Thayer (1862-1933; AB 1885) was an American amateur ornithologist, who maintained a collection of bird specimens in his museum in Lancaster, Massachusetts. He sponsored various natural history expeditions and eventually donated his entire collection to the MCZ of Harvard University. Nora Goodhue was his daughter.
